Missing teeth replacement with Dental Implants
- Missing tooth replacement with tooth supported bridge was once the widely used treatment option but with advances in dentistry this bridge treatment is now the least preferred treatment option.
- This is because it involves reduction of tooth structure of the adjacent natural teeth, sometimes intentional RCT for the healthy adjacent tooth. Most of the time they even break along with the teeth.
- Since it involves damaging the adjacent natural teeth implants are preferred over tooth supported bridge.
- This 46 years old female patient visited our clinic with a complaint of broken and dislodged bridge from her lower jaw. The patient explains the dental history, she had multiple missing tooth and decayed tooth in her lower jaw so she had visited a dentist nearby they suggested root canal treatment for the the decayed tooth followed by a tooth supported bridge, patient underwent the same treatment suggested by the dentist.
- After 8 months the bridge dislodged twice but this time the bridge dislodged along with some broken part of the tooth.
- On clinical examination: Patient had missing teeth in the anterior region of lower region, and in the molar region, root canal treated premolars.
- Digital photographs were taken to analyse the arch form, clinical condition of remaining tooth and digital radiographs were taken to analyse the root condition of the remaining teeth and bone.
- Patient present with the medical history of joint pain and calcium deficiency for which she is on medication.
- Treatment plan suggested for the patient was 1. Replacement of the missing tooth with dental implants and a connected implant supported fixed teeth.
- 2. Crowns for the root canal treated tooth.patient underwent the same treatment suggested by us, and now she is able to eat, talk and smile properly.
