  • As the name suggests full mouth rehabilitation  involves replacement of all teeth in the mouth, when it come to replacing all existing teeth in the mouth many thing are taken into consideration. Such as the patients general health, medical history, dental history, condition of existing teeth and bone, patients fear and mental status, patients concern and on top the financial stability of the patient.
  • For this reason based on the severity of dental issues one arch(upper or lower) is treated at one time followed by the other arch in the future based on the progress of the dental issues.
  • This helps to calm the patient and the patients feels satisfied that he still has some of his natural teeth to chew and this also helps with the patients financial problems.
  • We have many such patients, but this particular female patient who lives in Kundrathur is 66 years old she came to our clinic with a chief complaint of missing teeth in her upper arch she does not have any teeth in the upper arch and mobile teeth in the lower arch, patient adds that its been months that she had chewed food but she also want her lower teeth to be retained in the treatment.
  • On clinical examination: Completely edentulous upper arch, partially edentlous lower arch with mobility in the lower front teeth and calculus.
  • Digital photographs and radiographs were taken and a specialized 3D x-ray(CBCT) was taken to plan the treatment.
  • Patient presented with a medical history of hypertension and diabetes.
  • Treatment plan given to her based on the clinical condition, patients concern and financial factor was a full mouth rehabilitation only for upper arch  and replacement for missing teeth in the lower arch with dental implants followed by a fixed bridge.
  • On the first day of her treatment implants were placed in the upper and lower arch under local anesthesia, and following various clinical steps on the third day provisional bridge was fixed for her to chew.
