Full mouth rehabilitation with Dental Implants in India
Date : 04/2/20
Full mouth rehabilitation with Dental Implants in India is increasing nowadays because of increased awareness of dental health among people. It is also due to more people are losing either all or most of the teeth at their middle or early age.
- Many of us think that only old patients need full mouth rehabilitation or reconstruction(replacing all teeth in the mouth) but that is not so, many middle-aged patients today need full mouth replacement. This is because they loose their teeth at a very early stage due to poor oral hygiene, gum problems, untreated dental caries, systemic problems and most importantly delaying dental visits.
- This particular female patient aged 42 came to our clinic from Chennai with the chief complaint of shaking tooth-supported bridge in her upper jaw and shaking teeth in her lower jaw. The patient added since her natural teeth and bridge were shaking she could not chew her food properly because of which she was on semi solid food for more that 4 months.
On clinical examination:
- Patients upper tooth supported bridge was mobile and her teeth in lower jaw were also mobile along with severe calculus, bleeding on gums were noticed.
- Digital photographs were recorded to analyse the clinical condition of the remaining teeth followed by a 2D and 3D X-RAY(CBCT),
- Patient presented with a medical history of diabetes and knee pain.
-
Treatment plan :
- Advised full mouth rehabilitation with dental implants and a fixed provisional bridge. Her appointment was scheduled on the next day morning followed by her glucose monitoring.
- The mobile bridge and teeth were extracted under local anesthesia and dental implants were placed.
- After 3 days her provisional bridge was fixed for her to chew and enjoy the food.
